1. I would
like to make a locket to give as a gift. Do
you have any plans or kits that contain the
internal hardware that I could buy to make
one myself?
I am sorry but I don’t give out plans or
sell internal hardware. To make this design
of locket requires a CNC milling machine and
custom fixtures. A typical person would just
not be able to make one so I don’t sell kits
or drawings.
2.
I would like to buy one of your lockets but
they are too expensive for me. Why do they
cost so much?
These
lockets are not mass produced. Each locket
is handmade and involves many hours of labor
and requires machining time on expensive CNC
milling equipment. Most of the internal
parts are custom made. Each locket contains
29 parts that must be fabricated and
precisely assembled into position. A locket
with inlayed gold or silver butterflies
contains 43 parts.
3.
How do I install my own pictures in the
locket?
Each locket sold comes with detailed
instructions (mostly pictures) of exactly
what to do. No tools are required. It is
simple process to install your own pictures.
The locket comes with everything you need
except for your pictures. Included in the
shipment is a custom picture punch to punch
your pictures to the exact size to fit into
the locket and tape to stick to the back of
your pictures to the locket.
4.
How do I get my pictures sized to fit into
the locket?
Most photo software allows you to change the
size of your pictures or you can take your
digital image to a store like Walmart to
have it reduced or enlarged to fit. The
picture punch acts as a great frame to check
the size of the photo and see how it will
look in the locket.
5.
Will the locket get damaged if it gets wet?
I send all the wood off to be stabilized
(Injected with plastic) so that it is
basically water proof. So the locket won’t
be damaged if it gets wet but the pictures
inside it will not do well.
6.
How long will the lockets last and do they
break easily?
The lockets are heirloom quality and should
last for generations. The design is very
strong and robust. All of the rotation
mechanisms in our lockets are made of metal.
You can twist and open the lockets all you
want without fear of them breaking, wearing
out or becoming loose. We have been selling
these lockets for over 3 years and with over
1000 sales they have proven to be very
robust and reliable. We stand behind them
with a 2 year warranty and they should last
for generations. You can buy our lockets
with confidence knowing that they will not
break and are proven in the field.

8.
What does the number under the locket
picture mean?
Each locket is unique and we engrave the
serial number of the locket under the
picture. We take pictures of every locket
so that you can see the fit and finish of
the exact locket you are buying.
9. What is your
return policy?
We accept
returns for credit towards a different
locket within 14 days. (We extend this for
Christmas gifts or special cases.) We don't
refund your money back. The buyer is also
responsible to pay all of the shipping
charges. So please be sure of your purchase
prior to buying. (Since the buyer selects
what type of bail is glued into the locket
it is difficult for us to resell the lockets
with bails glued in.)
10.
Do you ship to all countries?
We do not ship to the far East and selected
other countries.
11. What shipment method do you use and how
much do you charge?
We ship USPS priority mail (insured) for
orders within the US for $10.00. (We have an
express mail option for $20 that you can
select during check out.) International
orders are shipped USPS international
express for $35.00. We will email you the
tracking information when the locket is
shipped.
12. How quickly do
you ship?
We normally glue
the bail in place the day the order is
received and ship the locket the next day.
Sometimes we are not available and there can
be a delay in shipments.
13. How long
does it take to get the locket?
For orders
within the US shipped by priority mail the
post office claims 2 to 3 days although this
is not guaranteed. For shipments outside the
US the post office claims 3 to 5 business
days. (We know of cases where it has taken
longer than this since it depends on your
country's postal system. If you outside of
the US you should allow 1 to 2 weeks)
14.
If I live in the UK will there be import
taxes that I need to pay to collect the
locket?
Yes, we
have been told that if you live in the UK or
Europe you will have to pay Import VAT and a
'Clearance Fee' when you pick up the locket
at the post office. Our understanding is
this is about 25% of the purchase price.
Other countries may also have fees. Please
check with your country's customs office to
determine what these additional costs will
be prior to buying.
15. Will you show a lower value for the
locket on the customs form so I don't have
to pay as much import tax on international
shipments?
We do not mark
merchandise below value or mark items as
"gifts" - US and International government
regulations prohibit such behavior.
16. I live in the UK and you shipped my
locket 10 days ago and I have not received
it yet. Can you check on it?
We have heard of several cases where the
locket is waiting to be picked up and
customer is never notified. When we ship the
locket we will send you a USPS tracking #.
Go to:
www.usps.com
click on "track and confirm" and enter the
tracking information. This will show you the
same information we get. If the locket is in
customs you need to call your post office
and give them the tracking # and they will
give you instructions about how to get it. |
